Q :  Two questions: 1) Do you know if the shingles vaccine is on the marketyet: and 2) can Valtrex be taken prophylactically? I got shingles seven days after an angioplasty. I continue -- a year later -- to have problems with my right eye. Now I am scheduled for another angioplasty. I'm far more concerned about possibly triggering another episode of Shingles than I am about the angioplasty procedure. I would like to know if there is anything I can do preventatively at this point?

Answer : Hello Carol. There has been some research done on developing a vaccine against Shingles. Lot of pharma companies are working on such a vaccine. For more information you can check the following website:
