: Hello Olivia. In very few cases, shingles can reoccur but usually an attack gives immunity for life. Shingles can begin with almost flu-like symptoms, with a sever sensitivity, almost sunburn like in a patch of skin and only on the fourth or fifth day will small blisters erupt along a nerve line. Pain can be very severe. The blisters turn yellow within a few days, form scabs and then drop off, sometimes leaving scars. Eruptions usually heal within five days but the pain can persist for months or even years afterwards among the elderly.
